Teeing off fore St Catherine’s Hospice

Last week we had our Morrisons Solicitors annual charity golf day at the Surrey Downs Golf Club in Kingswood in aid of Redhill office’s chosen charity, St Catherine’s Hospice.

As the teams arrived, each guest was given a complimentary golf set inclusive of balls, tees and a divot repairer, as well as a chocolate bar and a bottle of water. They helped themselves to a complimentary bacon bap to get them ready for Surrey Down’s brilliant 18 hole course. Mulligans were on offer to buy as a bit of fun in case we had a few rusty players on board who might need to replay the occasional shot, with all proceeds going to St Catherine’s. The only thing out of our control now was the weather!

Teams were treated to lunch and refreshments delivered out on the course and as some of them stopped off for a drink after the first 9, it was clear after a few conversations that this was going to be a tight race come the end of the day.

I am pleased to say that a part from one or two holes, the rain held off for most of the afternoon! After the golfing had finished, the teams made their way back to the club house for some networking drinks and a delicious two course meal with a quick game of heads or tails for a chance to win a bottle of bubbly.

John Andrews, Partner of Morrisons Solicitors, thanked everyone for coming and handed over to Laura Kelly, Corporate Fundraiser for St Catherine’s Hospice. Laura spoke to our guests about the wonderful work her charity does and how important it is for them to provide expert hospice care to help everyone face death informed, supported and pain free.

After dinner the results were in! Congratulations to our competition winners, runners up and first place teams!

1st place, winners – Team from Matthew Douglas
2nd place, runners up – Team from White & Sons/Nutfield Homes

Longest drive – Dusan Jaksic, Groves Residential
Nearest the pin – Andrew Swain, Uniform Express
Nearest the pin in 2 – James Smith, Nutfield Homes

All in all it was a fantastic day out in which we raised a total of £800 for St Catherine’s Hospice and we would like to thank everyone again for coming and supporting such a worthwhile cause.

We hope to see you again next year!
