Emma Newman

Senior Associate Solicitor,
Deputy Head of Family
Camberley
01276 401 687

My role & experience:
I am a Senior Associate Solicitor and Deputy Head of the Family Law Department.  I joined Morrisons in the summer of August 2012 from Guillaumes (previously Guillaumes Gosling & Wilkinson) in Weybridge, where I worked since qualifying in 1999.

My specific experience:
I have extensive experience of all areas of family law including divorce, civil partnership dissolution, disputes concerning children and financial disputes.
Many of my cases involve high value assets or complicating factors.
I have had considerable experience and success in acting on variation of maintenance cases.
I have been accredited by Resolution First for Family Law as a specialist Family Lawyer with particular specialisms in Complex Financial Remedies and Private Children Law.

My area of expertise:
Having gone through the divorce process myself I understand the support my client’s need.  I am therefore passionate about ensuring they are fully supported in all aspects of their separation.  I try to make a difficult process more bearable.  Whilst I have the expertise to guide my client’s through the legal process, I have a network of third parties I refer my clients on to, to assist with emotional and practical issues.
I pride myself on a very high proportion of my cases settling without the need for Court proceedings.  If appropriate, I refer my client’s on to mediation or will successfully negotiate an amicable outcome.
Most of my clients are personally recommended to me and I am known for my down to earth, friendly and approachable manner.

My involvement with the community and associations:
I regularly attend Camberley’s Citizen Advice Bureau to provide family law advice as one of their rota solicitors.
I attend many local networking events and regularly give presentations on the practical aspects of separation and divorce.
As a member of the Camberley team I am proud to be a supporter of the wonderful Phyllis Tuckwell hospice

Something you may not know:
It is my ambition to one day enter the Great British Bake Off; I spend a great deal of my spare time baking cakes and my Camberley colleagues (my guinea pigs) have now come to expect treats on a Monday!

Before qualifying as a solicitor I spent several months travelling in Africa; I survived white water rafting down the Nile in Uganda, meeting Gorillas in Rwanda, a microlight flight over Victoria Falls and getting charged at by a Rhinoceros in Zimbabwe.  Travelling is still a great passion of mine but now I prefer to do it with a little less danger and a bit more luxury!

Testimonials:

“Thank you, that’s perfect. You have been fantastic supporting Cameron, Tabitha and me during this difficult time. Things are much improved.”

“Thanks again for your professionalism in actioning my divorce. Rest assured I will use Morrisons again should I need a solicitor but it certainly wont be to handle another divorce twice is more than enough!”
